Bento(弁当) comes from the word  for “convenient” in Japanese. A bento is a pre-packed meal, traditionally containing rice, vegetables, fruit and fish. Imagine Lunchables only with homemade healthy options.

Bento are typically served in boxes with multiple compartments making it convenient to eat on the run. Funnily enough, though bento were created to be quick and easy to eat, preparing a bento is often extremely time-consuming.
